Coming off the high of Capital Cruise, things have not slowed down! Mecum Auctions’ 2026 Tulsa Auction rolled into Expo Square the week after Capital Cruise, and then it was one of our biggest equine shows of the year, the Pinto Horse Association of America’s World Championship, which makes an estimated $18.2 million impact on the Tulsa economy. Next month brings the National Reined Cow Horse Association Hackamore Classic.
Historic Greenwood District was full for Tulsa’s annual Juneteenth Festival last weekend. It was so great to see so many people enjoying the fantastic weather, music, vendors and food.

For the second time since 2023, the USA Gymnastics Championships are at the BOK Center, bringing the best rhythmic, trampoline and tumbling, and acrobatic gymnasts in the country to compete for a spot on the national team. I stopped by on media day and got a chance to meet the USA Gymnastics therapy dog, Beacon!

The competition starts today and runs through Saturday, so make plans to head downtown and check out these amazing athletes and maybe see some future Olympians.
Emmy nominations will be announced early July, and fingers crossed Sterlin Harjo’s The Lowdown earns (at least!) one. Season two of the smash hit FX show is filming now in downtown Tulsa. Take a drive down 6th Street and you just might see Lee Raybon taking a walk out of Hoot Owl Books or Sweet Emily’s.

And last but certainly not least, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday this July 4, the same year Route 66 turns 100 years old, I want to say again how thankful I am for all of you and your unwavering support. Without you, our incredible tourism partners, Tulsa would not be the vibrant, dynamic, unique destination it is. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you! Tulsa to be Spotlight City for September's Americanafest in Nashville
|
- Tulsa will be the focus of the Americana Music Association’s Americanafest in Nashville this Setpember 15-19.
- Every year, the AMA “highlights a region where our music originated and remains vibrant today” as the festival’s Spotlight City.
- Tulsa-centric programming and scheduling will be included at this year’s Americanafest as part of the “Tulsa Spotlight.”

Second Annual Make Music Tulsa Held on June 21
|
- For the second straight year, summer in Tulsa began with Make Music Tulsa, part of the global celebration “Make Music Day,” which encourages, promotes and features live music performances in cities all over the world.
- Tulsa FMAC spearheaded a new Make Music Tulsa Performance Grant Program, which aimed to help local businesses, organizations, venues and spaces hire and provide local musicians to play.
- More than 20 events were planned all over the city, including:
- Make Music Day in the Market District featuring Paul Benjaman (Visitors Center: Powered by Visit Tulsa), Hot Toast (Mother Road Market) and an Acoustic Freight Train Instrument Drive
- Music in the Parks including a Drum Circle at Oxley Nature Center and Music at Reed Park Pool
- Tunes on Route 66, featuring Amber Watson at HBarC
- End of Make Music Day Party at Thelma’s Peach

Multiple Film Projects Underway in Tulsa Region
|
- Crews from Tulsa King have been back in Tulsa capturing more exteriors, b-roll and scene-setting footage for the upcoming season.
- Feature-length film Will to Win has been in production in Green Country. The film stars Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos) and Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy) and tells the story of a teenager “thrown into unfamiliar circumstances,” learns about Will Rogers and finds purpose in her life.
- Flyover has also been in production, a feature film that follows a group of women who leave Los Angeles for a “flyover state to test whether their dating struggles are rooted in geography or something far more personal.” The romantic comedy is produced by Killers of the Flower Moon co-producer Justine Conte, along with Adria Baratta and Todd Slater of Convoke Media.
