Can you believe it? It’s finally here!

Capital Cruise is this Saturday, and the fun starts today with the Capital Cruise Expo at Expo Square. That will go through Friday and turn into the Bank of Oklahoma Capital Cruise Tailgate, featuring live music, the Tulsa Kids Market, vendors, and a live auction of Vice Grip Garage’s custom-made truck. Make plans to be there and then don’t miss Saturday when we make an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt at largest classic car parade in history! More than 4,700 cars and drivers have registered for the biggest Route 66 Centennial celebration in the country! Make sure to visit capitalofroute66.com and download the official Capital Cruise app to keep up-to-date.

I spent last week in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. at U.S. Travel Association’s IPW, along with senior director of communications Jonathan Huskey. Our partners at Choctaw Country, Visit Oklahoma City, Chickasaw Country and TravelOK made up “Oklahoma Row” with us and we had a fantastic week talking all things Tulsa with buyers, media and journalists from all over the world. We were also the sponsor of the first Domestic Direct Lunch, where I was able to tell Tulsa’s story in front of hundreds of the nation’s most prominent travel and tourism organizations.

This weekend is also the official ribbon-cutting for the 75th anniversary of Admiral Twin Drive-In, an iconic part of Tulsa’s skyline if there ever was one! They’ll celebrate this momentous occasion with special showings of Cool Hand Luke and The Outsiders (of course!) on Friday.

June in Tulsa can only mean one thing—Saint Francis Tulsa Tough! June 5-7, the best cyclists in the world compete in the Blue Dome Criterium in Friday, the Tulsa Arts District Criterium on Saturday and the infamous River Parks Criterium on Sunday—better known as “Cry Baby Hill.” This year’s theme? “Cry Babies in Space.”

More on this in the FMAC section below, but June 21 will be the second annual Make Music Tulsa, and I can’t wait to see our venues, spaces, parks and auditoriums full of the live music that makes Tulsa great.

The Route 66 Centennial year is literally rolling right along, and we could not do any of it without you, our incredible tourism partners. It is paying off in a big way—just check out this podcast from the Los Angeles Times! Thank you for your support, advocacy and collaboration, and let’s all get our kicks on Route 66!

Now, on with the tour...

Tulsa FMAC a Founding Member of Association of Music Offices

  • The Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture is a founding member of the newly established Association of Music Offices, a national organization meant to champion shared resources and best practices for local music ecosystems.
  • Along with government and community-based organizations, industry affiliates are among the first AMO members, including the Recording Academy.
  • “Tulsa FMAC has been working closely with the other founding members for over a year and a half to develop an inclusive and resourceful organization for music offices around the country,” said Meg Gould, executive director of Tulsa FMAC. “We realized a need existed for a formal, national association meant to support music communities nationwide with shared knowledge and ideas, and the result was AMO.”
