Spring has officially sprung in Tulsa, and the flowers aren’t the only thing blooming—April is another month full of top-tier, premier events, gatherings and tournaments coming to town. Here’s a look at some of the biggest in the April edition of the Tulsa Awareness Group Monthly Snapshot! For a full list of events, click here!

  • March 31-April 5
  • Collie Club of America National Specialty
  • 2,500 attendees
  • Expo Square

A week-long event celebrating the best dogs of the collie breed, attracting competitors and spectators from all over the world. Competition takes place in herding, agility, obedience and rally, and the event provides multiple education opportunities as well.

Audience Insight: Attendees will typically dine in groups, favoring restaurants that can handle large numbers of guests. Convenient options located near Expo Square will be preferred for lunch.

  • Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association Spring Show
  • 1,500 attendees
  • Expo Square

One of three yearly shows hosted by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association. The Spring Show offers five sets of American Quarter Horse Association points. Cowboys and cowgirls of all ages will compete in Western pleasure, Western riding, barrel racing, pole bending, tie down roping and more.

Audience Insight: Groups will spend time around Expo Square for meals—mostly lunch and dinner. They will also frequent nearby hardware stores and grocery stores for supplies needed on-site during the competition.

  • Oklahoma FCCLA State Convention
  • 5,000 attendees
  • Arvest Convention Center

Thousands of student members of Oklahoma Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will gather for the largest one-day Oklahoma FCCLA event of the year. Keynote speakers, elections, awards ceremonies and more will all take place April 2 at Arvest Convention Center.

Audience Insight: Students will be responsible for their own meals and will seeks out age-appropriate establishments in the downtown corridor, often in large groups of their peers.

  • Tulsa Soccer Club Route 66 Tournament
  • 3,000 attendees
  • Mohawk Sports Complex/Scheels Sports Complex

More than 300 of the top youth soccer teams in the country spanning all age groups and seven states will compete in the tournament. Each age group has at least three divisions to ensure quality games.

Audience Insight: Teams will seek out restaurants, businesses and attractions that are age-appropriate and can accommodate full teams of 15-20 kids plus coaches and parents. Teams will be staying all over Tulsa, so they will likely explore the entire region.

  • Top Gun OK Futures Invitational
  • 1,700 attendees
  • Bentley Sports Complex (Bixby)

A premier youth softball tournament featuring 32 teams from ages 10u, 12u and 14u, with each team guaranteed at least five games. Players have the opportunity to play in front of college recruiters and scouts.

 
  • April 11-15
  • Main Street Now Conference
  • 2,000 attendees
  • Arvest Convention Center

Main Street Now is the nation’s largest gathering of professionals and volunteers in preservation-based economic development and revitalization. These professionals will travel from all over the country for networking and professional development. The conference includes educational sessions and local tours.

Audience Insight: Conference attendees will be in downtown Tulsa for lunch and dinner, seeking out restaurants to accommodate large groups. Groups will also explore local attractions and venues both as part of the conference and on their own time to get a full picture of Tulsa as a city.

 
  • April 14-25
  • National Reining Breeders Classic
  • 4,000 attendees
  • Expo Square

A cornerstone of Reining competition, the National Reining Breeders Classic offers competition levels from short stirrup riders to elite professionals. Under new management in 2026, the National Reining Breeders Classic will feature classic signature events as well as new developments in its 28th year.

Audience Insight: Takeout options located near Expo Square will be popular with attendees for lunch, and they will patronize higher-end, upscale steakhouses that can accommodate large groups for dinner.

  • World Axe Throwing Championships
  • 7,500 attendees
  • WeStreet Ice Center

The world’s best axe and knife throwers will once again descend upon Tulsa and WeStreet Ice Center after an unquestionably successful event in 2024. More than 600 athletes will compete in multiple disciplines, including hatchet, knife, duals and big axe.

Audience Insight: Competitors will be adults and largely a laid-back, relaxed group. They will frequent midtown-area restaurants and bars and breweries after competition.

  • SkillsUSA Annual Leadership Conference
  • 4,000 attendees
  • Arvest Convention Center

Oklahoma’s premier showcase of career and technical education brings together top students, educators and industry leaders from around the state for a multi-day conference focused on workforce readiness and leadership development.

 
  • April 23-26
  • Mid-Continent Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show
  • 1,200 attendees
  • Expo Square

Some of the best dogs and their owners will compete in showmanship, obedience and more in one of the region’s largest dog shows. Vendors will be on-site for the four-day event as well.

Audience Insight: Exhibitors are highly active and will frequent nearby restaurants and retail options during the day, especially dog-friendly establishments. They will often gather in groups for lunch, dinner and shopping options around Expo Square between competitions or events.

 
  • May 5-7
  • Oklahoma FFA State Convention & Expo
  • 11,000 attendees
  • BOK Center/Arvest Convention Center

High school students representing FFA chapters from schools across the state will be at the BOK Center for the 100th Annual State Convention and Expo. Events will include showcases, speakers and awards shows.

Audience Insight: Large numbers of high school students will be downtown, on their own for lunch and dinner there as well as midtown. They will likely look for places that can accommodate large groups, as well as takeout options that they can eat at their hotels.

  • Tulsa's Route 66 Capital Cruise: World-Record Classic Car Centennial Parade
  • Expo Square/Historic Route 66

Celebrate the Centennial of Route 66 with the nation's signature celebration in the Capital of Route 66®! Everything kicks off with the Capital Cruise Expo on May 28, and the Bank of Oklahoma Capital Cruise Tailgate on May 29, both at Expo Square and open to the public, before the parade attempt on Saturday morning, May 30, down a stretch of Historic Route 66 in Tulsa. 

Audience Insight: Audience will include drivers and classic-car enthusiasts who will be in the parade, as well as Route 66 fans from all over the world. They will seek out other Route 66-themed activities and attractions while in town.
