One of Tulsa’s biggest yearly events comes to town in October, after summer ends with year two of one of the area’s rapidly growing music festivals.   • American Miniature Horse Registry Nationals
  • 1,600 attendees
  • Expo Square

The largest miniature horse competition in the world draws more than 1,500 miniature horses from across the United States and Canada. Competition in halter, performance, youth and amateur divisions take place across multiple arenas over the nine-day event.

  • Neon Prairie Festival
  • 10,000 attendees
  • POSTOAK Lodge

The second-annual Neon Prairie Festival is a three-day art, music and culture experience at POSTOAK Lodge. It blends performances from top artists as well as up-and-coming acts with camping, outdoor activities and immersive art experiences. This year’s lineup includes Steve Aoki, Silversun Pickups and Blind Melon.

Audience Insight: The festival offers camping, RV camping and “staycation” options at POSTOAK Lodge. Attendees staying for the entire festival will likely look to stock up on food and drink at grocery and convenience stores near the lodge, as well as quick dining options in the vicinity as well.

  • USA Boxing National Open
  • 5,000 attendees
  • Arvest Convention Center

After three days of a coaches clinic, matches begin on Monday, June 15 at noon and run through the evening, with competition finals scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.

  • Living Proof Live
  • 2,000 attendees
  • Asbury Church

Living Proof Live is a women’s conference with keynote speaker, teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore. The first session begins 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26 and the second at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 for women of all ages.

Audience Insight: Attendees, almost entirely women, will come from all over the region. They will likely seek out places that can accommodate large groups for dinner in south Tulsa near the 71st Street corridor.

  • ITA Men’s All-American Championships
  • 2,550 attendees
  • Michael D. Case Tennis Center, University of Tulsa

The best men’s college tennis players in the country compete for 10 spots at the NCAA Singles Championship and four spots at the NCAA Doubles Championship. Play begins with pre-qualifying on Sept. 20 and culminates in the finals on Sunday, Sept. 28.

Audience Insight: Audience is made up primarily of family, friends, former players and junior players. Family and junior players and parents bias towards quick, healthy meal options that are also cost-effective.

  • Korn Ferry Tour Compliance Solutions Championship
  • 7,000 attendees
  • The Patriot Golf Club (Owasso)

After years at Jimmy Austin Golf Club in Norman, the Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solutions Championship moves to The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso. The best of golf’s “minor league” compete for a chance to earn a spot on the PGA tour.

Audience Insight: Golf fans of all ages will seek out dining options near the course and into downtown Tulsa for dinner after the rounds. A section will likely be interested in nightlife/bars/breweries open late night.

  • MultiGP Sport Class Drone Racing Championship
  • 1,200 attendees
  • USA BMX Headquarters & Hall of Fame

More than 1,000 drone racing pilots of all ages from all over the world attempt to qualify for the MultiGP Championship every year, so the best pilots around the globe will be in Tulsa competing for the sport’s ultimate prize.

Audience Insight: Competitors range in all ages and skill levels. Some pilots will seek out late-night dining options and bars/breweries downtown. Competition will run until roughly 11:00 p.m. nightly.

  • Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa Resilience Through Tradition Culture Day
  • 1,100 attendees
  • Arvest Convention Center

Attendees will celebrate the Indigenous Peoples Day holiday weekend with an event meant to foster cultural pride and strengthen community connections. This event is free and open to the public.

Audience Insight: The youth-centered event will bring tribal and non-tribal people of all ages together to learn from representatives from area American Indian tribes about their culture.

  • Annual U.S. National Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Show
  • 7,500 attendees
  • Expo Square

Nearly 2,000 horses (and their accompanying humans) will converge on Tulsa's Expo Square for the class's premier event. Load-in begins Oct. 13, five full days before competition starts. Visitors will spend nearly two weeks in-market over the duration of the show.

Audience Insight: Participants are known to build full living quarters from the ground up in their stalls at Expo Square, uniquely contributing to the local economy through lumber sales.

 
  • Oct. 31-Nov. 8
  • Pinto Horse Association of America Color Breed Congress
  • 2,000 attendees
  • Expo Square

Six different equine disciplines will compete for cash prizes during the first week in November. Attendees will account for more than 2,600 hotel room nights over the nine-night event.

Audience Insight: Attendees will seek family-friendly entertainment when not at the venue. Gathering Place and downtown museums have historically been popular destinations. Members enjoy Mexican food and steakhouses.
