The next two months bring more high-profile, premier events to Tulsa—and some making their first appearance in Green Country! One of those is the American Cornhole Organization’s World Championships at Arvest Convention Center. The first major children’s pageant organization, and oldest children’s scholarship competition of its kind, Our Little Miss brings pageant-goers of all ages for both stage competitions and interview and press conference-style competitions.
Audience Insight: Groups will travel as a family and tend to arrive early to take advantage of area attractions. They will seek out family-friend and kid-centric activities, and plan to find lunch and dinner opportunities near the Renaissance Hotel.
The Pony of Americas breed is a youth-oriented horse breed known for its versatility and coloring. The National Congress brings Pony of Americas Club members from all over the country for competitions in numerous disciplines.
Audience Insight: Groups will seek out dining options for lunch and dinner near Expo Square. With a large number of youth competitors, groups will likely be interested in family-friendly activities and destinations.
P.E.A.K. (Pentecostal in Experience, Action and Knowledge) is one of the fastest-growing youth conferences in the country. Services Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night will feature dynamic preaching and teaching and be followed by after-hours events at Incredible Pizza (Wednesday), WeStreet Ice Center (Thursday) and Ascension St. John Sportsplex (Friday).
Audience Insight: Attendees will be on their own for lunch and those not attending the after-hours events will be for dinner as well. They will seek out dining options near the Mabee Center that can accommodate larger groups.
A nine-day event that is completely free for spectators to watch. Players will compete in eight different divisions, and spectators/amateur players can compete in “walk-up” events as well.
Audience Insight: Age of competitors will span from youth to adult, including a large international contingent from several countries. The adult portion of the group will seek our breweries and bars in the evenings, as well as nightlife options after competition. Younger competitors will look for more budget-friendly options and attractions.
The Hackamore Classic showcases traditional cow horse evolution and provides hackamore horses (4- and 5-year-olds) the opportunity to compete in a three-event derby featuring herd/rein/cow work.
Audience Insight: Groups will eat lunch at establishments near Expo Square, mostly opting for takeout. For dinner, they will seek out steakhouses capable of hosting large groups.
The Oklahoma Coaches Association Annual Coaches Clinic brings coaches of all sports from all over the state for professional development, networking and education, with All-State games taking place in the evening.
Audience Insight: Attendees will likely be on their own for lunch and dinner, seeking out quick options near the Marriott Southern Hills for lunch and dinner options near the facilities for the various All-State games.
The annual conference for CareerTech professionals across Oklahoma brings more than 4,000 educational professionals to Tulsa for networking, professional development and leadership opportunities.
Audience Insight: Attendees will likely patronize one-site food trucks for lunch and seek out options downtown for dinner. It is a professional crowd that will seek out quieter establishments either in downtown or near their hotels.
The annual training conference is meant to provide professional development and educational opportunities to law enforcement personnel statewide.
Audience Insight: This group will likely stay at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa for the majority of their conference. Members of the Executive Committee may visit ONEOK Field for a Drillers game if the schedule allows.
The 10-day event features all-breed classes of show horses and a payout of more than $1.5 million. The show also includes a trade show in conjunction with the Championship. Competition begins at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 17.
Audience Insight: Lunch spots near Expo Square will be popular with the group, especially takeout options. For dinner, they will seek out upscale steakhouses that can accommodate large groups.
A two-day event bringing guests, vendors, artists and a diverse group of fans to celebrate pop culture. The experience is family-friendly, and guests at this year’s event include Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy), Kel Mitchel (Nickelodeon’s “Kenan & Kel”) and former WWE superstar Ron Simmons.
Audience Insight: The event takes place entirely at Arvest Convention Center downtown. Attendees will likely seek out family-friendly attractions in time away from the convention, as well as quick and easy dining options in and around downtown.
