What an exciting start to the year, and as we welcome spring, the momentum just keeps building!
We’ve been busy hitting the road to promote our industries, and most recently, we made a stop at SXSW in Austin, TX, where we hosted a Filmmaker’s Happy Hour alongside other Film Commissions from across the state and a Tulsa Film Meet Up celebrating Loren Waters new Short Film, "Tiger". We also congratulate the Tulsa Musicians who were showcased this year including: Ken Pomeroy, Damion Shade, Johnny MurrelI, and Sierra Spirit. They put on fantastic performances! It was an incredible week filled with networking, meetings, and showcasing Tulsa as a premier destination for film and music.
But the adventure didn’t stop there! We also partnered with Hear Fort Worth to host a room at Folk Alliance International in Montreal, where four of Tulsa’s incredible musicians took the stage. From Woody Guthrie enthusiasts to those planning their visit to the Bob Dylan Center, Tulsa’s presence was unmissable at this festival. Our talented artists made sure of that!
Back on the home front, we’ve been hard at work advocating for our local communities through legislative efforts. With nine creative industry bills in the works at the state capitol, we couldn’t be more excited about the potential ahead! And speaking of the state capitol, we hope to see you next week on April 1st for Film and Music Day. Professionals from across Oklahoma will gather to showcase the impact of our industries to the state legislature. It’s going to be a fantastic day!
Whether we catch you at the capitol on Tuesday, at one of our upcoming workshops, or if you recently attended one of our Mix and Master Music Educational Events, we’re always excited to see you. Your support means the world, and we’re here to champion Tulsa’s creative industries every step of the way.
So mark your calendars because next month is packed with fantastic events—it’s going to be one for the books!
